Opening Flow
Opening Flow gives your team a consistent way to record the start of each salon day. Specialists confirm the location, enter the opening cash amount, record any daily meters you have configured, complete your salon condition checklist, and submit notes when needed.
This guide is for business owners and administrators responsible for configuring opening procedures and reviewing daily opening reports.
What is Opening Flow?
Section titled “What is Opening Flow?”Opening Flow is a short operational checklist for the beginning of the day. It helps your organization capture who opened a location, when they opened it, the cash available at opening, any daily meter readings, and whether each salon condition was met.
The flow is non-blocking. Specialists can choose Later and continue using the rest of FullDay, then return to Opening when they are ready.
Enable Opening Flow
Section titled “Enable Opening Flow”Organization administrators can enable or disable Opening Flow in Settings → Daily operations. When it is disabled, specialists are not prompted to complete the flow.
Enable it after your locations and specialist schedules are ready, then configure the checklist that matches your opening procedure.
Configure daily meters
Section titled “Configure daily meters”In Settings → Daily operations, administrators can add named numeric meters that specialists record at opening and again at closing. Use a label and optional unit that match your business, for example laser shots, machine pulses, or another counter you already track.
If you add no meters, Opening Flow stays cash and checklist only. When meters are configured, each active meter is required during opening.
You can add, rename, reorder, or archive meters. Archived meters are not asked on later opening forms. New closing reports use the current active meters. If a specialist is still finishing an opening submitted before you renamed or replaced the meters, Closing Flow keeps the labels and units stored with that opening. Reports keep those stored values.
Configure salon conditions
Section titled “Configure salon conditions”Administrators create the Yes or No checklist items specialists confirm during opening. Add each condition in the order your team should check it, such as whether a preparation area is ready or required supplies are available.
You can:
- Add salon condition items
- Arrange items in the intended completion order
- Archive items that no longer belong in the active checklist
Archived items are removed from future opening checklists while remaining part of reports that already recorded them.
What specialists experience
Section titled “What specialists experience”A specialist with a scheduled shift that day sees a greeting card on the dashboard. On other admin pages, a persistent reminder stays at the top until the opening is submitted. Neither prompt blocks the rest of FullDay.
The specialist can start the flow from the dashboard card or the reminder, or choose Later. The Opening item under Daily operations also lets a specialist start manually, which supports cover days when they do not have a scheduled shift.
If a specialist’s date of birth is configured and today is their birthday, the dashboard greeting includes a birthday message.
Complete an opening
Section titled “Complete an opening”During Opening Flow, the specialist records:
- Location: The salon being opened.
- Opening cash: The cash amount available at the start of the day.
- Daily meters (when configured): The current reading for each active meter.
- Salon conditions: A Yes or No answer for each active checklist item.
- Details for No answers: Required context explaining any condition that was not met.
- Additional notes: Optional information that may help administrators understand the opening.
Submitting the flow creates an opening report. The opening cash amount is also written to Cash records, so the daily financial record starts with the same amount reported during opening.
After submit, the specialist sees a completion screen. They can choose Stay on page to return to a blank opening form and start another opening, or Back to dashboard.
Review opening reports
Section titled “Review opening reports”Administrators can review submitted opening reports to see:
- The specialist who completed the opening
- The selected location
- The opening date and time
- The opening cash amount
- Opening readings for each configured daily meter
- Every recorded salon condition and its Yes or No answer
- Required details for conditions answered No
- Any additional notes
Filter reports by date range, location, and specialist. Use Reset Filters to restore the default date range, All locations, and All specialists in one step. Review reports regularly to identify recurring preparation issues, follow up on exceptions, and confirm that each location began the day with a documented cash amount.
Best practices
Section titled “Best practices”- Keep checklist items specific enough to answer clearly with Yes or No.
- Put conditions in the same order your team follows while preparing the salon.
- Ask specialists to explain No answers with useful operational detail.
- Archive outdated conditions so the active checklist stays focused.
- Use the manual Opening entry when a specialist covers a day without a scheduled shift.
- Review opening reports and Cash records as part of your daily routine.
